Does anyone else like making things? I like knitting and doing cross stitch and sometimes making cards, too. I also like doing ceramics and did pottery for my GCSE's. Does anyone else like anything like that?
I loved doing pottery when I had the chance at RNC. Shame the art teacher and I didn't get on. Also enjoyed woodwork in school, and want to get back into it now. One day I hope to be able to build replicas of ancient artifacts.
I also go to the ceramics at rnc. I don't know if it's the same teacher you had, but get on OK with him.
I like making things with modeling clay, or at least, I did when I was in school. lol
I used to (and still would) like making things with clay, and other similar moldable materials. I especially like using those plastic tools that you use with Play Doe, where you push the clay thru and have a row of shapes to choose from to make the clayy come out in that shape. I haven't tried it with the regular clay, but I think that would be cool to do that. I also like drawing and coloring, and if I had all the materials I wanted at the same time, I like making things out of I guess "junk". My favorite thing I'd made like that (when I was in school) was a little 2-story house with a balcony. I wish I could do that again, as it had mainly been made of a cardboard box and had gotten destroyed. But I would want to remake a house and some 3D pictures. I would also like making designs, writing, or pictures with , I think it's needlepoint or something. It's where you weave yarn/thread thru this plastic sheet full of holes.
I also like making things with clay and go to the ceramics club at college on Wednesday. I've made a few things since I started going and I've usedmolds to make them or cutting the clay out and shaping it with my hands. Unfortunately we can't get anything fired yet, because there isn't a cover for the kiln.
I was in a ceramics class in high school and It was quite enjoyable. It wasn't just working with clay it was working with other media as well. My favorite thing I made was a unicorn out of newspaper than wrapped in plaster strips. It had a good amount of detail and I also added a pair of wings to it. the thing was like 4 feet tall and 3 feet wide. everyone in that school loved it. unfortunatlly my mother made me throw it out when we moved. I balled for a week after that cuz it took me a month of working every day to make.
I also draw and when I find the right type I sculpt.
I make candles. Mostly gel candles. For a while there I sold them for fundraisers.
I like making things out of clay to. A couple of years ago I went on a Ceramic course for blind people. It was a weekend course. I made a plate and a bowl. I keep them in my bedroom. There is a picture of my guide dog on it to.
I've made a box with a fox figure on the lid and fox in brail and print on the side, two dragon head candlestick holders, a tart warmer and a luminary out of clay.
Hey all!! I'm new here, and was wondering, how blind people can learn to knit. My mom has tried teaching me, and hasn't been successful. Does anyone have any kind of tips for me? Can it be explained online? If so, can someone please send me a private message, or reply to this post. Thanks!!
I'd like to learn how to crochet.
I'm going to try needelpoint!
I used to needle point on those plastic canvases. The holes are big, and you use yarn instead of thread. My mother would make up a pattern, and use tape to outline it for me. When I'd finish with the insides, she'd take off the tape and I'd do the other part in a different color yarn. It was pretty fun, but then I was like 13. I decided, I'm going to be knitting by the time 2009 comes around lol
I can knit quite well. My great nan showed me and we got there in the end, but had a few shouting matches on the way! Hahahahaha! It does help though if you are right handed and the person teaching you is also right handed and the same if you are left handed. You can buy or borrow braille knitting patterns and books, but I don't think many will give you the actual instructions on how to do it, just the patterns. Even if they did, it would probably be really hard to follow the instructions unless someone has already shown you basically what to do.
I use to croquet, and all. I learned it at the braille institute. I can't get my hands on yarn. I just write now. I also use to do some drawing and painting. I made a spider in middle school. Also with it, I made a grindylow from the HP books. Yeah, the grindylow and the spider was both in clay.
I also made random art things with glue and paper. I just cut random shapes and paste it on a piece of paper. Lol, random, I know.
i love making things with newspaper. i am a very creative person but wish i can learn to do more arts and crafts. i believe there is a kind of therapy in it. love knitting, beading. crafts are just cool. oh and clay is super to play and make things with.
I don't know how to do any of it, but I would if I did & if there were someone to teach me, I'd be happy to learn!
About the extent of my "making things" is creating necklaces/bracelets out of different shaped/sized beads. I also paint & draw/color.
I'm good with my hands, so I do work with playdough (but don't make anything), & build with legos.
When I was in art class in school we did oregami & I made a clay pot once.
I love to do beadwork. I've been doing it since I was a little girl.
